Janet, looks do reveal a lot about our ancestors. But looking at pictures on Dr. Yates familty tree site, I think American Indians look so diverse too. I enclosed the links to some interesting old photos, our window to the past.

Greetings,
I saw for the first time Links by Donald Panther Yates at his Family Tree site. All Indians looked different long ago and in modern times.
From Sedgewick Hall painting of Pocahontas in England, drawn from life, about 1620

Cindy; What would a Melungeon descendant look like in 2004? I now have
impeccable proof that my gg grandmother was an almost fullblood
Choctaw/Chickashaw Indian. I have relatives enrolled in the Choctaw tribe. I
may qualify myself. gg grandmother Jane was born in 1820. My Dad in 1896,
and he had other NA lines as well, yet even he had red hair and fair skin.
Looks don't prove anything.
