Hi folks, We sure have a nice list manager now!
Wondering if any of you have a line on Viola Trimble. She was apparently raised by another family.
I am descended from Viola and we have noticed that her husband, Benjamin Turlay, was very very white (Norman English from Britain) and her son my grandfather, Chester, was very very dark. It looks like Viola is the wild card and am trying to find out if she was Indian or mulatto or Melungeon. Would her being given away to the Allen's mean anything like that she was born on the wrong side of the sheets? Do you have any knowledge of her real father being an Indian fighter? hugs, Felicia

VIOLA is on the Census below:

Census Place: Marshall, Platte, Missouri; Roll: M432_410; Page: 322; Image: 77.
Alfred TRIMBLE 25 Farmer KY
Mary F. 25 KY
Viola 4 MO
Madera 2 MO

As you can see from the 1860 and 1850 census, Samuel ALLENs children were born in MO. They must have been friends of the family!
