Jemina Sinnes was Elijah Goin's GRANDmother, not mother (his parents were Levi Goin and Elizabeth Stallings/Stallion). My oops!

> The verdict? Elijah Goin won his slander suit against Sterling Mayes, and the jury awarded him $50 in damages, far less than the $5,000 he sought. Sterling Mayes appealed the case to the Tennessee Supreme Court in Knoxville where the Circuit Courts decision was reversed and remanded. He won the appeal on the grounds that it had long been common knowledge in the community that the Goin family was of mixed blood and that he was not seeking the forfeiture of the civil rights of Elijah Goin.

> I don't think the term "Mulungeon" was ever used of Tommy Goin because it wasn't in use yet. Generally, they passed for white. Their mixed blood ancestry was claimed to be Indian or Portuguese. Tommy Goin's DNA project would indicate that they indeed had an African ancestor. The Indian claim could point to Elijah's mother, Jemina Sinnes or a possible Lumbee connection - I will try to contact the adminstrator to ask why he's on the Lumbee project.
