Has anyone done any research in the following?
Senate Document #512 law books: Document #512 of US Senate, 23rd Congress,
1st Session, THE INDIAN REMOVALS, Volumes I-V Publisher: AMS Press, NY, 1974
reprint edition Reprint of the 1834-1835 ed. printed by D. Green, Washington
ISBN: 0-404-11210-2
A brief overview of what's contained in each volume:
VOLUME I: has an extensive list (153 pages) of names of individuals who were
given "disbursements in the removal and subsistence of Choctaws 1831-1832".
Note that it appears that most of these individuals were "whites" who
assisted in providing food, wagons, etc in the removal efforts. There are some
indians listed who were interpreters, provided blacksmith services, etc.
VOLUME II: Letters and treaties regarding removal of: Cherokee, Shawnee,
Osage, Choctaw, Seneca, Creek, others
VOLUME III: Letters, correspondence & treaties - re: many different tribes
AND a 97 page census list of "Names of Indians owning farms" - gives locality of
farm, no. of persons in family, no. of acres, (I believe these are CHOCTAW
lists but it's not clear -- many, many indian names).
VOLUME IV: 155 pages of 1832 census of Creek Nation East and 1833 census of
the Applachicola Indians; all other pages are correspondence re: various tribes
VOLUME V: This volume is mostly lists of expenditures incurred in removing
the various tribes: lists for: Cherokees west of Mississippi, Creek, Choctaw,
Chickasaw, Pottowamie, Memoninee, Delawares, Ottawa.
Lists include expenditures, amount of merchandise purchased and delivered to
the indians; land and personal property purchased from the indians, etc, etc.
All Listed name individual recipients of money and amount
Not only in book form as described above, but online as well.
