Hi list , just want to share an experience we had trying to get my husbands
grandmas birth certificate in Va. she was a native descent person and my
husband was denied access to her records because she was " born over 100
years ago (1897) and only her children were allowd access to the records He
would have to wait until they were all dead until he would be allowed access
to them." Her name was Clark and was a mix of Cherokee, Dakota and maybe
Monocan. good luck Chris

This is the answer I got. Hope it helps you. Gwen

Hello Gwen,
I seen your post , about a Woman that could not get a Birth
Certificate because the Person was Dead over ( 100 ) years. Who told
her that ??
That is a crock of Bull, Tell her to go to
the Social Security Office and get an Application for a copy of a
Birth Record and fill it out and mail it to the ( Virginia
Department Of Health ) The Address is
P. O. Box1000 Richmond VA. 23218--1000 And she will get the Birth
Certificate in ( 6--8 ) Weeks.
