I have info on the cemetery @ l2 mile marker. Have been there several times over the years, as I have ancestors buried there who settled in the area. It is somehow connected with Smyrna Church, but I believe it is what they called the Hemphill family cemetery, the family having allowed the church to bury some members there. I have relatives in their late '90's who know the history behind it. They are in Morganton where I am residing now. The last time I went, it appeared that someone may have been looking after the place. Please e-mail me at and I will find out more about this for you. There are others who are interested in keeping up the place!!!
