Thanks Linda, I really appreciate it, it was a long shot. That's the
problem, I
don't know who his parents were or what county they were in when he was
born, in
1844 or 1847 depending on who in the family you talk to or which census you
believe
(1870 he was 22, 1880 he was 36)? They do all say he was born in TN, but
since his
father was born in NC, I thought since they couldn't find Newton on the 1860
there,
maybe they had moved back to NC. Oh well TN finding the 1870 census for him
was a
big breakthru, believe me, so I am thankful for small favors. Thank you so
much for
your efforts.
