Hi Jim,

When doing census research, it's a good idea to start with the most recent
census and work backwards. I checked my 1930 NC index and found a Sylvester
TEMPLES age 43, living as a lodger in the home of a JOHNSTON family and he's
designated as a widower. Do you know when Alice married Silvester /
Sylvester TEMPLE / TEMPLES?

The index shows two results for Alice HINTON that have a birth year close to
the
one you gave but neither of them are in Johnston Co. Do either of these look
like
a possibility?

Alice Hinton Cape Fear, Chatham, NC abt 1898 born Texas Boarder
Alice C Hinton Dry Wells, Nash, NC abt 1898 born North Carolina
Sister-in-law

The index doesn't show any results for an Alice TEMPLE or TEMPLES with a
husband Sylvester or Silvester.
