One Pierce/Pearce still in Beaufort County:

1840 Beaufort County, North Carolina - page 242
Newton Pierce - 1 free colored male aged 36-55 - no females - total 1
Source Citation: Year: 1840; Census Place: , Beaufort, North Carolina;
Roll: 355; Page: 242.

Bunches of Pierces in Gates County in 1840, but no Israel indexed as head of
household. What were the names of his sons and sons-in-law, in case he was
residing in the household of one of them? By the way, all the Pierces index
in 1840 Gates were counted as white, so it would help if you knew who his
daughters married.

Good luck,

Linda in Georgia
