19 August 1801 Iredell Co., NC
Gaither's noted on my 6th generation great grandfather's Will:
Executors: Wife and friend Burges Gaither, Wit: Eli Gaither, Basil R. Gaither
I do not have any of these Gaither's attached to my Ellis family as of yet, does anyone know if there was a connection and if so, what kind and to who?
I also have Solomon Ellis noted as a witness to to the Will of Jeremiah Jacob, 1781 Rowan Co., NC. He mentions Rachael Gaither, is this the same Rachael Jacob who married Benjamin Gaither (b. 1744 Anne Arundel)? Does anyone know of a connection of this Solomon Ellis to this family?
It's interesting the twists and turns of these families...they all seem to be connected in one fashion or another..through the Gaithers, Summers, Jacobs, Beal, Ellis, etc.

Anne Arundel Gentry is a great book to get started with on the Gaithers but please be aware that it has genealogical mistakes in it. One should use it to get an idea of their Gaither or associated family roots and then check the proof themselves. There are quite a few very accomplished Gaither researchers out there if you query the Gaither Rootsweb line or check in their archives.
As you research be aware that the Gaithers used given names over and over like most families of their time and there are several Gaithers with the same given name. Depending which branch you are researching is whether or not it gets confusing.
If you are from the Iredell branch chances are you are related to my Gaither branch. What is the given name of you Gaither family head and family members?
My branch descends from Isom/Isham Gaither b. 1809, was my 4th g-grandfather who married Sarah Leach, also a Gaither/Lovelace descendent. His father was Zachariah Gaither, son of Benjamin Gaither. Isom was from Zachariah's first marriage to Margaret Lovelace. After Margaret's death in 1811, Zachariah married Sarah Taylor, half sister to Margaret, and together they had many more children.
