Yes, it was supposed to be Carrigan. It was a slip of my busy fingers!
Spelling is all relative anyway.
I don't know where Irene Black received her information. I know the Church
has a directory which was compiled by the local Boy Scout Troup. I have a
copy of this directory.
I am looking for the individual who requested pictures of his grave, which I
now have. Unfortunately I cannot find the person's name or email address to
give them the pictures!
The stone says, In Memory of James Carrigan Who Died 8th Feby 1793 In The
77th Year of His Age
Mrs. Kelly Miller

Are you sure the spelling isn't Carrigan instead of Carrington? On p. 64,
Vol. 4 of Irene Black's "Iredell County Cemetery Books" at Coddle Creek ARP
Church Cemetery, there is a listing for James Carrigan, born ____, died Feb.
8, 1793, and under Comments is listed "77y".
