Hi Lost Colony/ Dare researchers, [Related msgs to follow shortly]

I have mentioned the Prerogative Court records a few times, indicating I
have a copy of them. I need a website to post an image of them. But for
now, here is an online Link that IDs w/pithy, to say the least, abstract
contractions, at least one of the Prerogative Court 1597 John Dare records,
this one being the John Nokes application as ~guardian of a minor, that
being of John Dare whose father Ananias Dare has, at the time of applic,
been presumably lost for at least 7 yrs in the Lost Colony. In addition to
the applic by Nokes, an applic was also filed by John Satchfield/ Sackfeild
for the same relief. Note the ref to a previous (1594) applic granted.

"Dare, Ananias, St. Bride, Lond. To Jn. Nokes, k., dur. min. of Jn. D., s.,
(by Decree), (prev. Gnt. Apr 1594 , p. 95), Jun 1597 , p. 213."
("Jn. D" = John Dare, as discussed otherwise in the notes. It is still the
habit not to mention the names of minors in court records. bw)

Also below, and to follow, are references to other 'supporting' records,
including an immigrant applic/record, probably as an 'official' record,
perhaps to establish an immigrant ~'claim' of some sort relating to the
Dares, as though there was a govt agency for Immig at the time:

"Dare, Ananias Roanoke, Virginia 1587 507 Immigrant Record Passenger and
Immigration Lists Index
Dare, Ananias Virginia 1587 108 Immigrant Record Passenger and
Immigration Lists Index"

Also thanks to Ancestry and Filby/ Meyer for these records:
Edited by P. William Filby, with Mary K. Meyer. Detroit, MI: Gale Research
Company, 1981

It does happen that there are many Dares in NJ, primarily connected to
the Benoni branch, (who have an annual reunion in Sep in S NJ) with ancestry
traced to Wm Dare 1605, discussed at length in the dare-L Archives (where
there is also info about the reunion):
http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/d/dare.html

Soon to follow are a few other similar records/ resources for further
research.
