Hello. I am trying to find any information on William Flintoff (Native
American). Family history says that he was an Indian who always wore his
feathers down I don't know the significance of wearing the feathers down.)
William married Isabella, who is said to have been a free African American.
They lived in the Hillsborough area, and may have lived in Yanceyville.

William was born between 1820-1830 and Isabella was born between 1834-1844.
It is said that William was a "tracker" for the fire department-he helped
them find people who were lost in the woods. Family history states that he
lost his life while on one of his tracking missions. He either died while in
the woods or he died after coming out of the woods from smoke inhalation.

I thought that perhaps a story like that would have made the news. Any
information you may have on William and or Isabella will certainly be
appreciated.

Looking forward to your response.
Jalil
