Hello Lenny,
I'm very interested in you information on the Shepherd Families...I know they lived in Wilkes County 1850 onward and Alleghany County, some parts of Surry County. In Wilkes County, I had Shepherd's in Thurmond, State Road, Shiloam, Edwards and other names I can't think of at the moment. They mainly bordered Surry and Wilkes Counties. In Alleganey County, NC. was Cranberry Township, Laurel Springs.
