Could it be possible that Anson Co. NC was having a cholera epidemic in 1850 time frame? I have heard from others researching (not from this area) that many census takers would not go into an area that had cholera or some other epidemic occurring.

As for my White line, they moved often. My George Washington White can't be found in an 1850 or an 1870 census anywhere!!!
Nor can I find his children in those years. Some went to gold rush in Alabama and California. Yes, Alabama had bits of gold also.
It is possible the Joseph Henry line was on the move, either in different county or state. Many left areas for a short time to settle up estate of father---or to tend to sickly relative. Just hard to say.
