Thank you so much for this information! You are the first person from this
line of the family that I have been able to communicate with and have helped
me to fill in some holes.

The Canada possibility is new to me and makes me wonder why they would have
gone to Canada? I would guess it has to do with the Civil War. Detroit had
served with the Union (possibly before with the Confederacy as well)
deserted, was captured and then took the oath of allegiance. Maybe all of
this trauma caused him to abandon the country?

I look forward to our communication and exchanges to see how we can help
each other.
