I am trying to find anyone who is researching the Jacob COLSON family and
descendants of Bertie Precinct and then Anson Co, NC. I have lots of bits of
information and am having a terrible time trying to put them all together.
Jacob COLSON died before August 1727 in Bertie Precinct, NC. They lived
around the Moratak (Roanoke) R. area. Supposedly he was a trader with the
Chickasaw and Cherokee Indians. He was married to Mary Burton DAVIS. Perhaps
Davis was her name from a first marriage? Their children were I believe:
John, SR, William, Abraham, Joseph, and Sarah who m. a LUNDY. John COLSON, SR
was married to a Susannah in 1699. His will was written in 1730 and proved in
1736 in Bertie District. Names wife Susannah, children: John, Thomas, Jacob,
Sanders, Joseph, Martha and Mary. Some of these children moved down into
Anson Co, NC about 1740. Does anyone recognize these names?
