I'm looking for information on Henry Jones who was of Northampton Co., NC,
when in 1743, he transferred, by deed of gift, 100 acres in Edgecombe Co.
to his "beloved Godson", William Simmons. Since Edgecombe was formed from
Bertie in 1741, I'm hoping to find some trace of Henry Jones in early
Bertie.

My ancestor William Simmons was probably a minor when he received this land
on Rocky Swamp, and he was to allow his parents John Simmons and Ann
Unknown "to live thereon". I have been trying to find Ann's maiden for a
long time, and it's my thought that if I could determine what Henry Jones'
relationship was, if any, to John or Ann Simmons, I may find that she was a
kinswoman of Henry or Wallis Jones.

WALLIS JONES (a rather unusual name) appears as witness on several
documents concerning Henry Jones as well as John Simmons. If I could
understand how Wallis Jones is related to Henry, perhaps I could connect
them to John and Ann Simmons.

I think Henry Jones had a son called Henry Restore Jones. With these odd
Jones first names, does anyone have a connection?
