Thanks to the recent additions of Bible Records we now have 11 on-line.

DIFFERENCE between ARCHIVES and COUNTY PAGES
I frequently get asked why we have TWO different pages, so I'll try to
explain. You really need to create TWO bookmarks!!

Everything in the ARCHIVES is submitted in "text" form.....you can download
it as such right to your own computer. (There is a Table of Contents to
help you locate and get to these txt files)

The Bertie County Page is a typical Web page and is managed by Mike DeLoach.
He provides various informational pages about Bertie County and many links.
He also welcomes your input and we try to summarize some of the materials
that come in through our list to place on this page.
The main difference is that the Archives are "primary documents, i.e.
wills/deeds/cemetery lists, tax lists.
This is also the page to visit to post Queries, Bios, Obits.....there are
BOARDS set-up so you can do your own posting. There is a SURNAME listing
there too. Visit it often!!

Because of some recent confusion, Mike has removed his listing of the
Cemeteries. He had attempted a HUGE project of creating family surnames
under each cemetery that I was putting on-line in the Archives. This was
great, but very, very time consuming. Now that we have excellent Search
Engines for BOTH pages, this wasn't necessary, and had caused some people a
great deal of confusion.

SO, visit BOTH pages! We try to keep you alerted when new things are placed
in either location.

Also we are planning to send directly to this list ALL queries posted on the
Query Board. Often people don't even know about our mailing list when they
post there. Once you belong to the List, I think you don't take the time to
visit that page as frequently as you should, and having the complete message
come directly to your mailbox should make it all easier for you!!

Let us know if you have other ideas! We really do welcome everyone's input.
Look through your files, and let's share what you have on this list as well
as putting bits and pieces of census, marriage lists, etc on-line.
