Here's some information that will help you on what county was where:
Researching Land in Bertie, keep these dates in mind as to where the same
land was at
various dates in history:
1664-1668 Albemarle County
1668-1722 Chowan County
1722 - Bertie County formed from Chowan
1729 - Tyrrell taken out of eastern Bertie
1741 - Edgecombe taken out of southwestern Bertie
1741 - Northampton taken out of northwestern Bertie
1759 - Hertford taken from northern Bertie *This line changed
again in 1877 and once
again in 1907.
This is from our MAIN BERTIE County Page.

There were too many sons/uncles/cousins with the same name....that is what
gives us such a very hard time. And in your case even married women with the
same name.
Do you have the actual will? Would you type it up for us and put it on-line....

Then maybe someone else researching the Cherry family will find you....
Also have you searched the Bertie Archives... using the SEARCH Engines at
the top of the pages...
There is a Cherry Family Cemetery....don't know if you connect with any of
them or not...
