Bobby Eure is hard at work on the history of the Mars Hill School.

He's contributed a photo which we have on-line at:

History so far:
The picture was taken in 1934 and the vehicles out front are school buses.
The school was built in 1906 and the superintendent was R.W.Askew. The
school's
committee was: Joshiah Brown, B.W. Lee,and Benjamin Brown.

The first principal was Clara M. Pigg.

In 1924 the superintendent was H.B. Early and his committee was:
C.S. Pearce, J.T. Harrell, and J.H. Morris.
W.C. Miller was the person that built the school.

He would still welcome any information on the school.....memorabilia,
teacher's names, report cards, annuals, newspaper clippings, photos.

Bertie County school...just mention it here and see who might have also
gone there!
