This indenture made this 2nd day of August 1869 between Samuel Shaw and
Francis Leicester of the first part and James M. Britt of the second part,
all of the county of Bertie and state of North Carolina. Abit that the
said party of the first part and in consideration of the sum of $30 to
them in hand paid or received to be paid the receipt of which is hereby
acknowledged, have given, granted, bargained, sold and conveyed; and do
hereby give granted bargain sale and convey to the said part of the second
part, his heirs and assigns a certain tract of parcel of land lying in
the County of Bertie and state of North Carolina and in Salmon Creek Township
known as the Hudson land and bounded by the lands of Sally Shaw, Micajah
Phelps and others and containing by estimation 15 acres be the same more
or less to have and to hold the same with all the rights and appertenances
there unto belonging to James M. Britt the said party of the second part,
his heirs and assigns forever. And the said part of the first part for
the consideration aforesaid to hereby convenant and agree to warrant and
defend the premises aforesaid to the said party of the second part, his
heirs and assigns against the lawful claim or claims of any and all persons
whatsoever, and do further convenant that the said Samuel Shaw and Francis
Leicester are seized of the premises in fee simple and have power to make
and convey such an estate by this indenture and have done the same by these
presents. In witness where of the said part of the first part have herein
set their hands and seals this day and year above written.
