Karen:

I visited your site on Family Tree Maker and would be interested in sharing information.

My husband's ancestry includes James Garner BRETT (b. 1823 Washington County, GA; d. 1892 Grant County, LA) who married Elizabeth Jane BOWEN (b. 1826 GA; d 1908 Colfax, Grant County, LA). James Garner BRETT's parents are James Sparkman BRETT (b.. 1795) and Elizabeth GARNER. James Garner BRETT had a son, Francis Marion BRETT (b. 1854; d. 1937 Trinity, TX (now known as Liberty, TX), who married Elvira Clementine GRAY (b. 1860; d. 1917 Trinity, TX (now known as Liberty, TX).

I'm not sure you need, or are ready for, all of the information available.......however, the BRETT surname is directly linked with the KEY family (the ancestry and descendency of the famous Francis Scott KEY, who wrote The Star Spangled Banner). There are many gravesites of the BRETT, KEY, PENNY, etc. families in the surrounding areas of Liberty/Hull-Daisetta/Hardin, Texas.

I have more information, boxed away, of course, which I would be willing to share, including a video tape of some of the search done (mostly of the KEY surname). It will take me time to locate it, as we are building our retirement home, and everything just happens to be in boxes.....somewhere.

You may e-mail me at be certain to include the above surnames in the subject line, as I do not open unrecognized e-mail.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

With kind regards,
Dee
