Are there existing laws in NC protecting family plots? I have been
concerned about my great grandparents graves. They were buried on what was
their land (over a 100 years ago) which is now a wooded area owned by a
large corporation. The headstones are still there. I am sure the caskets
and bodies are dust by now, but it is still their final resting place.

dead end. From What I do know for sure is that the cemetery was destroyed,
the land has been developed and I think the bones of my ancestors are
sitting beneath someone's house or something!

unfortunately the laws we have now protecting burial sites didn't exist
then. By the time I got into researching my family it was gone. I don't even
know if anything was published in the local newspaper to try and locate any
descendants of these particular Bryan's or not.
