I am trying to locate land mentioned in the will (dated 1822) of James Tayloe of Bertie Co. This is land he owned in Hertford Co.
Can anyone tell me where this land might be located today.
I give and bequeath to my son Leander Tayloe the following land lying in Hertford County beginning at a persimon tree and Thomas Jones's line thence running a strait course to the mouth of found Branch thence up the said Branch to Abraim Harmon's line thence along Harmon's line to Jones's corner and thence along Jones's line to the first station To him and his heirs forever.
I give and bequeath to my son John Tayloe the following land lying in Hertford County beginning at a pine in Leander Tayloe's line thence along a line of marked trees to Abner Perry's line thence to ________ corner around pocosin thence along a line of marked trees to a white oak Augustain Jenkins' corner thence along Thomas Jones's line to a pine at corner thence along a line of marked trees to a persimmon tree Leander Tayloe's corner and thence along Leander Tayloe's line to the first station to him and his heirs forever.
I give and bequeath to my son Richard Rhodes Tayloe the following land lying in Hertford Co beginning at the mouth of the found Branch in ahoaskey swamp thence running up to said swamp above mango Island to a branch Abner Perry's line thence up the main run of said Branch to John Tayloe's corner a white oak thence along John Tayloe's line to a pine in Leander Tayloe's line and thence along Leander Tayloe's line to the first station. Also I give unto him sixty dollars in money to him and his heirs forever.
