I have enjoyed seeing the interest on the Martha Farmer Family and Greens Cross Community.

I could not get into John Tayloe's website to see if he included the three grave sites directly in front of the church.
According to church records one old maid and two bachelors requested that they be buried there. They are:
Tyny Dempsey (probably part of Joseph Dempsey's family,
as I do not recall but one Dempsey Family), Isiah Dempsey
(deacon) and Horace Jones. Over the years the headstones
were damaged, and the last time I saw them they were up
in the attic of the church.

In reference to Green's Cross Cemetery, I do not know of a
cemetery by that name, and I have lived here for 64 years.
Family cemeteries that I can recall are: Mizell (listed on
internet), White (on internet), Jimmie Lawrence (grown up
and well guarded by rattlers), several more Lawrence cemeteries, Connor, and more. Pernecia Dempsey Mizell is
buried on their homeplace down Rupert Earl Rd. This cemetery is in the middle of a field.

There are quite a few descendents of Martha Farmer in the area and some are very good genealogists. I contacted the
greatgranddaughter of Martha, and she gave me the following information. Martha (married Joseph Dempsey),
Christian (married Alonza Asbell), Elizabeth (married Bythiel
Leggett, one of the founders of the church) and Bill Farmer
were the children of Jesse and Polly Farmer. There could possibly be others. As always, use this information as a
guide for your further research. I have not verified this information.

I have been ill and inactive in genealogy for about a year.
Plan to get active again soon.
