Thank you so much for the tip, Ms. Clark! William J. Cox witnessed a land transaction for my 3rd ggfather, Lemuel Parker, in 1851. After 1860 my Lemuel disappeared off the face of the Earth, it seems, and when the buyer of the land tried to register the deed, the Bertie Court had to turn it over to the new county and state in which Mr. Cox later resided, for his signature. Would very much appreciate knowing the name of this source (ie. "migration trail from Bertie County.) This would be a great lead for me. Thanks!!!!
