Okay, Joan - lets see if we can tackle the DILLARDS. Note that one of the State grants named a William Pettey.

Dillard, Wm., Halifax County, 1783

Chatham County
1093 pg 138 WILLIAM DILLARD 20 Aug 1779 640 acres on Camp Branch, joining Harmans corner, Peteys Line, JOHN DILLARD, the Old Chapel Path, Clarke line, Ashfords corner, Giffards corner, and the Gulph Road
Chatham County
2167 pg 258 JOHN DILLARD 31 Mar 1780 306 acres on the S side of Camp Branch, joining WILLIAM PETTEY, EVIN THOMAS (?), both sides of the Cross Creek Road, Saunders Corner, both sides of the Rockey Branch, WILLIAM CLARK, WILLIAM DILLARD, Saunders line, and (a point) on the Chapel Path
I cannot believe that this is all there is.

Dee,
So sorry to have asked for a lookup with no boundaries from
8. North and South Carolina Marriage Records from the Earliest Colonial Days to the Civil War.
Every now and then I seem to have a blackout period when dealing
with the Dillard family. Most of my Dillard family were in
North Carolina (from Virginia) by 1770 and left for Tennessee up to 1810.
The 3 below are my ancestors. (Yes, granddaughter of Osborne married son of Willis.)
William Dillard - have no information on first wife, who was the mother of all of his children except one. His 2nd wife was Keziah Petty.
Osborne/Ozburn Dillard - (son of William)
Willis Dillard - married Sarah Brownlow, but do not have date or location (Willis is son of William.)
I'm sure you are overrun with requests, and I have no idea how many records this would encompass. Of course,
any records between those dates would be of interest, as some of their children had married before leaving the State. I appreciate your offer to do this. Thank you again, joan

Joan,
I have seventeen marriage books on North and South Carolina.
Can you narrow it down with some year spans?

Thank you in advance. My request concerns the Dillard family of South and North Carolina. Would appreciate a look-up of marriage records for anyone named Dillard. Thank you, Joan Hawkins
