Hello Caldwell Researchers -

I have received a communication from H.G. Davis concerning 3 Caldwell
County residents
that were Killed In Action during the Korean War. Their bodies were
never recovered.

Mr. Davis is looking for family members to contribute DNA samples so
that if at some future
date remains are recovered, there might yet be a chance of bringing them
home for burial.

Be sure and visit the link he provides for full information about this
subject.

Our messages are copied below:

If you know of any kinfolk for these men, please get in touch with Mr.
Davis.

--------- His first post to me - -------------

I am with The American Legion and I am trying to locate some family
member that is related to Fred James Marley.

Fred James Marley was killed in Action on October 25, 1952 in North
Korea and his remains were never recovered.
His family members are needed to provide a DNA sample to be used for
identification if remains are ever recovered.
the following web page explains the need.

You may contact me and I will assist anyone searching for Fred Marley's
family.
Thank you,
Harold Davis

----------- My reply to him - -------------

Hi,
Was Fred James Marley from the Caldwell County area? If so, I will be

Caldwell mail list.

------- His last response to me - -------------

Sharon, When Fred James Marley was drafter into service he gave his home
address as Caldwell County, NC.
Everyone that enters service must give a home of record.

This is what we know about Fred James Marley.

Volunteered for service, U. S. Army
Unit: Company "I", 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division.
Killed in action October 25, 1952 in North Korea. His body was never
recovered.
Rank Private First Class
Service # 25002820

Sharon there are two other families of missing service men that gave
their "home of record" as Caldwell county.

Clarence E. Patterson (Black)
Born 1931
Missing in action July 6, 1953.
Remains never recovered.

Larry Eugene Sell (Caucasian)
Born 1931
Killed in action December 31, 1950
Remains never recovered.

Sharon, I am trying to locate these missing families in North Carolina.
I am just an old Korean War veteran trying
to help these families. I feel that it is a very noble cause and I thank
you very much for your interest and help.
For God and country
Harold Davis
