I recently returned from a trip to Washington D.C. and had a chance to peruse the microfilm at the archives. Our family has been trying to locate information concerning a WASHINGTON WILLIS who was the father of our Nancy Willis born 1812 and married to William Hunsucker Thomas of Yancey County (Burke) North Carolina. We have the descendancy of this couple, but nothing about Nancy can be found, because the dates are prior to the censuses that listed family members by their given names. I found Washington Willis on the Carteret County 1820 census records. He owned two slaves and had possibly six children on this census information. If anyone has more information regarding this WILLIS line, I would be interested in sharing information. Thank you, Leslie Thomas
