Only his ghost could have slept there as Blackbeard had been dead for 140 years when the house was built. However, Jean Kell does say that the house sold for only $400 in 1882 because it was believed to be haunted.
Incidentally, in his very short stay in NC, Blackbeard appears to have slept in more houses than George Wshington!
