I think I am a decsendant of the David Russell Sr. to whom you refer. If our research is correct, he is the David Russell Sr., who was granted by the Queen of England all the land from, Swansboro, almost to Morehead, sometime before 1776.He also had a brother who , my mother says, "came with him" Which makes me think they were not born there, but I could be mistaken.
I have my family's geneology back to around 1845, and would love to close that gap for my mom while she lives.
My Great, Great, Gandfather, David Samuel Russell is buried in the Russell Family Cemetary in Bogue, Not sure when he was born, but he died in 1890. (I could check the birth date on the stone next time I go, or any others if you are interested.)
I don't know his wife's name, but they had at least two sons, Leondias Franklin Russell (1869-1959) and David ____ Russell, The son David moved to Andrews and, I believe, started the Town there.
Leondias stayed in Cape Carteret and married Eunice Ilena Gould. he was a Sea Merchant and Tobbacco farmer. They had two sons, John Linster Russell.(1903-1979)
and Dan, or Daniel Russell, The had three daughters; Evie, Daisy and Mattie. I believe Evie has a daughter who has posted here, last named Piner.
John Linster Russell married Beulah Wetherington, adopted daughter of Chester Wetherington and Alice Bynom Wetherington. The Wetheringtons had three sons, Raymond, Mack and Claude. (I just added that info because there are alot of people interested in the Wetheringtons as well)
John Lister Russell was my grandather.
Is there anybody that can help fill in the gap between,
David Sr. (1750-1813) and David Samuel Russell (---1890)?
Any help will be appreciated and I will share anything I know about the Russells, or Wetheringtons.
Abullard
