question: What book would that be? What specifically are you looking for? Do you want to see history of Carteret in the early days?
History in Carteret before about 1720 is very limited. Before 1711 it is almost non existant. Then up to 1760 it is somewhat available and somewhat more complete after 1760 to about 1810. After 1810 we have a better feel for the county history. The various parts of the county have developed from the original settlers so that certain family names are identified with these various county areas.
