HI:
I'm researching NATHANIEL LONG, son of WILLIAM LONG, who married NANCY TONEY,
daughter of LUCY TONEY.
I found Lucy Toney in the 1850 Census living alone, age 42. I believe all of
these people were free people of color.
Nathaniel married LUCRETIA EVANS, daughter of ROBERT EVANS, around 1880.
Family legend has it that Lucretia was Cherokee but I have been told that
Lumbees are more common to that part of North Carolina.
In 1870, the Census for Caswell Co. shows Nathaniel Long working as a laborer
on the farm of JOHN EVANS. I am speculating that John was a relative of
Lucretia's; I couldn't find any other Evans living near them, though.
They moved to Alamance County, started a family, then moved to Ohio, where
they are buried.
Please check my Long/Enoch Web site for more information:

Thanks for all help.
