Lynn.
There are books available which lists all of the rolls taken of the
Cherokee Indians and
if you have a fairly large library near you, they probably have some of
them
Some of the books are "Cherokee Roots-Book I, Cherokee Roots-Book II.
Guion Miller Role. I have these books at home and will do a look up for
you as soon as I can.
The books are fairly reasonable to purchase and I will send you an
address if you are
interested. I find them interesting to refer to now and then,
especially if you have
Cherokee Roots.
The Guion Miller-Dawes Roll, lists name and location of persons applying
for monetary
awards granted by the U.S. Court of Claims for various treaty
violations as a result of
a decision the Court arrived at May 15, 1905. There is a number listed
that can be used to write for your ancestor's application to the Court.
Some of the applications were
rejected because the applicant did not know the ancestor's Indian names
or could not
prove any connection.
I have three family applications in my Rice/Penley line who were all
rejected.
