Danielle,

I have Carters and Gibsons in my family from the southwestern corner of
NC but can't seem to connect them very well.

My grandfather was Mauldin Carter who was born around Murphy, NC in
1898. His parents were James Carter (don't know anything about him
other than he was supposedly born in GA and died (?) around 1904) and
Mary Bishop who died in 1922). Mary's parents were Calvin H. Bishop and
Sarah A. Hatley. Calvin remarried about 1896 to Lillie Ann Ward. I
assume Sarah A. Hatley died before then.

Calvin H. Bishop and Sarah had a daughter Harriet A. Bishop who was
married to a Noah Gibson. They also had a son, James Anderson Bishop,
who married Bessie Irene Gibson.

Supposedly there is Cherokee blood in the family, assumed to be on the
Carter side.

Do you have any connections to the above people?
