Thomas Bateman with his father and either two uncles or brothers, came to
Wilmington, N.C. in the latter part of the 1700s. From there they located in
or near Edenton, Chowan Co., N.C. Nothing was heard from the father or two
uncles after.
Thomas Bateman married Elizabeth Bateman prior to Aug 14, 1792 as a son,
William Montgomery Bateman was born. We think that possibly a daughter,
Mary, was also in the house hold, before or after William is not known.
A bastardly bond was found whereby a Robt. Beasley and a Thomas Bateman were
the bondsmen. This is a fact that Thomas was in Chowan Co. at the
approximate time span and being with a Robt. Beasley lends futher evidence
that he was probably married to a Beasley. ???
Is there anyone that understands a Bastardly Bond enough to explanin it to
me.
Why was Betty J. Camin & Edwin A. Camin part in the bond?
Could the father of the child also be a bondsman, such as Robt. Beasley?
Folks I need lots of help.
Thank you in advance

x. THOMAS BATEMAN.
