Kay, this may or may not be a clue for your Lewis/Luton connection but they
are named in the same document.

John Lewis to Peter Adams - Whole of remainder of tract belonging to my
father, Richard, on Mattamacock Creek adjoining land of WM. LUTEN and Sam
Pagett 150 acres 1-19-1737

I have one other note re Wm. Luten - a deposition dated 31 Jan 1739 in which
he gives his age as 35 yrs.

This must be the first Wm., son of Maj. Thomas Luton, don't you think? Dixie
