Cherylyn, in response to your subject query. Samuel Overin was a resident of
the town of Edenton on the 1790 census. He is not listed on the State Census
of 1784-1787 nor on the 1800 Federal Census. Usually those who were
residents of Edenton were in trade or the professions. I find no listing for
him on any tax lists which have been published.

Edenton was a port, could he have been a seaman?

There is an excellent small book CRADLE OF THE COLONY by Dr. Thomas C.
Parramore which is a history of Chowan Co. and Edenton, NC. Your Samuel is
not shown there, but it might be of interest - background on the area. Dixie
