I think you may have some things confused. The Chowan County marriage bond between Orpha Hurdle and Josiah Spivey is dated 9 March 1802. I do not believe they could have been the parents of someone who was born in 1799. In fact, the estate record of Josiah Spivey (1841) shows the following children: Palatine, William, Miley (Spivey) Chappell, Henry, Elisha, Josiah, and Clarkey (Spivey) Winslow. I will e-mail you my Spivey file under separate cover. My interest in this family is the HURDLE surname and trying to uncover the names of Orpha's parents.
