Here are the two candidates that we have so far as being the young woman
buried in that grave in the Christian Harbor Cemetery, Hertford County ~ the
one that is marked with the Olive ship parts;
Miss. Nannie E. Huson (DOB June 1886) - daughter of
John Huson listed on pg 281a – Brantley Grove Township, Hertford County,
NC - as family #22: June 5th 1900 Census

[==="Harry Thompson gives an excellent account of the Olive sinking and the
weather throughout Bertie on that day. He quotes accounts from The Bertie
Ledger and The Virginian Pilot. A Miss Huson perished as did Hostess Martha
Barrett, Mrs. Vaughn of Colerain and 14 others. Miss Huson could be 'the
bride.'

Miss. Charlie E. Williams

Since we know now that Miss. Charlie E. Williams is buried in the Christian
Harbor Church Cemetery. It would seem likely that this is the right woman,
but what is bothering me is that if she is the right one then why didn't
they mention her fiancée in her Church obituary when they seem to take pains
to mention everyone else who would miss her?
I understand that there may be a number of graves without markers in that
cemetery, so it probably wouldn't do any good to go and look for her name on
a headstone to do a process by elimination. However, with such a display of
emotion from her church over her tragic death, and the fact that her parents
and brother were still living she probably does have a headstone at her
grave in that cemetery, or if not, then it would seem probable that the
Olive Ship Parts marked grave is hers ~ don't you think? Anyone know
anything about these families or have a good idea to work with about all
this?
Here are the directions to that cemetery ~ just in case anyone wants to
check it out:
"Christian Harbor Baptist Church Cemetery is located on Swain's Mill Rd.
between Harrellsville and Colerain. The cemetery is just down and across the
road from the church."
You can read the list of graves already noted by Kay Early from this
cemetery in the Hertford Archives Cemetery Files posted at;

Curiously yours ~ <g>
