This Samuel was the son of Edward Standin, Sr.
In the name of God, Amen on this 20th day of March in the year of our Lord God One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty Two I, Sam Standin of the county of Perquimans and in the Province of North Carolina, being sick in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given to God, therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die , do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hand of God that gave it and my body, I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian like manner at the discretion of my executor, not doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the almighty power of God and Redeemer. As touching such worldly estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. Imperious, I will and desire th!
at as soon as my death all my just debts that it right & ______ I owe to every person be discharged & paid with justice, Item: I give & bequeath to my dearly beloved wife ye plantation whereon I now live during her widowhood, incase she should remarry before my son William Standin, should arrive unto the full age of twenty one years or married. Item: I give and bequeath unto my said wife my young gray mare of three years old, one cow and calf one from ____. One two quart pewter ____, one pewter dish & two plates & the use of a feather bed and furniture until my daughter Penelope Standin shall arrive unto the age of eighteen year or married, provided my said wife will _____ unto said Penelope, one feather bed & furniture as go _____ & quality as tho she shall receive out of my estate. Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Samuel Standin one hundred and fifty acres of land being the one half my plantation where I now live, beginning at the upper end of the plantation!
and so to belong unto my said son by my executor, here after named as
they shall think proper. I give unto my said son Saml. My sorrel mare and one feather bed and furniture. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son William Standin the plantation where on I ___ live after his mother in laws marriage or when he shall arrive at the age of twenty one years, I likewise give unto my son William Standin my old & grey mare, one bed and furniture. I give and bequeath unto my son Edward Standin, two hundred acres of land lying in the fork of the creek adjoining to the land of Joseph Bam where on he now lives on the upper side and on the lower side the land of Humphry ___ ___ I give unto son Edward, fifty acres of land adjoining the land I now live on & I purchased of Christian Reed and commonly know as the name of the Folly Land. I give my said son Edward, one young mare of one year old, one bed & furniture. Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Mary Standin, my white horse named Smoky and my dark bay mare with a bald face and one large ____!

My will and my desire is that my young bay horse named Shark be sold by my executor and for the money be laid out by them for the profits of my daughter, Penelope in purchasing for her one young breeding mare and the over_____ in ____ for her.
Item: I give unto my son Edward Standin, my Negro man named Joe, to be enjoyed by him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my dear and beloved wife, ten head of hoggs viz. _ ______ __ __ sow ___ ____ about 6 months old, two Ewes & Lambs. Item: I give all the rest of my estate both real and personal to be equally divided between my beloved, son William Standin, my beloved son Edward Standin & my beloved daughter Penelope Standin, and lastly of this my last will and testament, I do nominate, constitute, ordain, order and appoint my trusted and well beloved friend , John Harvey, William Wyatt, Joshua Skinner executors of this my last will and testament, Testifying & confirming that this and no others be my last will and testament.
