Hey Kat !
you may already have this info... It all comes frome the 3 brothers from
England story.. (how many familes have that!) John Ledford and Lucy
Thompson had children which shaped our history here in NC...one was Peter G.
Ledford and his brother John Ledford Jr. (of course we all know of Peter
G.) John Ledford Jr. and his wife Elizabeth (last name unknown) were killed
in April 1802 when a tree fell on their wagon in Cumberland Gap, Kentucky
while they were sleeping... One of their sons was Frederick C. Ledford,
born in the late 1770's. he died in Clay county, NC after 1860... The only
known child of Fredeick Ledford that i know of was David Ledford Sr. born in
1792 in Randolph county NC.. his wife was Jane Barnes. From their children
was Jason, born 1828 died 1862 in Clay county, NC.. Adaline , born in 1830
in Macon County NC... David Ledford Jr. (Dave), born in Macon county NC,
about 1833 in Macon county NC.. he was killed in 1864 during the war, buried
with his wife Nancy Dulcena Sabrina Hicks whom he married about 1851. A.
Center Ledford, born about 1836, brother to David Jr.,, Center was born in
and around 1836 in Macon county NC... he is buried at the Philadelphia
Cemetery , not far from the old Ledford cemetery on the same road.. what I
find strange is that Center was married the first time in 1857/58.. his
wife's name I don't know but it is said she died by 1860... He is listed by
1860 Cherokee county NC census as being head of household with an infant
daughter, named Sarah Ledford, born 1859. I think I can connect more of
the Ledfords family histor in the very times in this area... also I will
let you know what I have on Dulcena Hicks Ledford
Peace, Chuck Stiles
