Hi Connie:

The land grants are on file in the NC Archives, alphabetically by county and
by the surname of the recepient. Most of the original land grants have now
been "retired" and are no longer available for viewing, but are available on
microfilm. The rest are in the process of being put on microfilm and
"retired".

I'll be glad to look up William Mitchell and get you a copy of the grant if
it's on file. But, it may be next week before I get a chance to do so.
