Subject: Research Request
Sloan,
I am researching Benjamin Herring, Jr. from Duplin County (b. 1783 - d.
unknown). If you restrict your search efforts to people migrating from
Dobbs County, I understand.
Two sons of Benjamin Herring, Jr. and Charity Keathley (married 1808) said
they were born in Georgia (1850 census). The two sons arrived in Holmes
County, Mississippi by 1839.
Benjamin Herring, Jr. and Charity Keathley were probably in Dublin County
between 1813 and mid-1816 (Estate of Benjamin Herring, Sr.). Benjamin, Jr.
and Charity seem to disappear from Duplin after 1816.
Benjamin Herring is listed in the Fayette County, Georgia tax list; 1824 and
again in 1834. He did not seem to own land.
This is the only Benjamin Herring reference I have found that fits a time
frame of 1816 to 1839.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Bryan Herring
