Subject: [NCDOBBS] Phillips DNA Project with other posssible surnames

An update on this project. Finally a good test down a proven Dobbs/Craven
Co line and it has confirmed what a number of people across the country
have always thought - they are probably down the Thomas and Isabelle line
or in some cases probably a generation or two further back. There have also
been some surprises - it appears there are at least two unrelated Phillips
families in the Old Dobbs area. We really need a male down the
Reubin/Council line and one down the James Phillips line of Craven to test
to see if the other family might be related to them, or if indeed either
are related to Thomas and Isabelle, or if there are three or four families
in the area. Any assistance in that matter would be greatly appreciated
both for us and for the tester.

With the sharing of information there are at least two testers and probably
more that must come down the Mason Phillips line that circumstanial
evidence tends to support a further connection with the Barwick family and
maybe a Thompson family. Definitely a Stewart family somewhere and maybe
Craven. Does anyone has any information on a Thompson family - full name of
at least Thomas - who may have been in the Rev. War. and may have moved to
Darlington Co, SC before going on to Tenn. or Ala.

We are probably going to be setting up a mail list somewhere for Eastern NC
Phillips families with a concentration in Craven and Dobbs.

For me, this has really been a learning experience and I still don't
understand the entire process. This is where the migration project is
really coming in handy and when I have some time, we need to completely
redo that.

We are Group 5 with a posssibility that Group 3 is related further back,
probably in Va. The results for the 37 marker for Thomas is still not up
but it has been finished.
