Listmembers, I have goofed! The letter from Andrew Sherman ROYAL was written 1953. It is unethical of me to distribute his verbatim letter within seventy years of the date of the letter. It will be retained in my genealogical papers.

I have had several inquiries about the letter. I truly regret having said that I would post the letter to the lists.

It is however, within my rights as owner of the letter, to post in full the genealogical and historical content.

Andrew Sherman ROYAL was the grandson of Noel WEST. Noel was a son of the elder Willis WEST of Sampson Co., NC and Fayette Co., GA.

Andrew's maternal granddaddy was "Simon ROYAL of British descent who raised a family of ten children, the oldest of whom was killed in the Civil War".

Noel WEST married sisters: (1) Martha LOUIS. They had one son, John E. WEST. (2) Pennie LOUIS. They had five children: Laura West ROYAL, mother of Andrew; Mary West WEST, who married her first cousin Noel WEST, a son of Handy WEST. Handy was a brother to Noel, grandfather to Andrew.

Noel WEST, son of Willis, had these siblings: William W. WEST; Lee Andrew WEST; Mattie West TAYLOR. Mattie was the "baby of the six children". FRAN'S NOTE: others un-named.

Laura West ROYAL was daughter of a college graduate and he was a Bible student. He was a "Universal religion and a Republican".

Andrew was "83 years old and in good health" when he wrote the letter in 1953.
