Duplin County Court Mintues, 16 April 1804:
The last will & testament of John Knowles was exhibited into Court & proved in due form of law by the oath of Amos Tucker one of the subscribing witnesses thereto, and at the same time David Carleton one [sic] the executors named in the said will came before the Court and qualified as such according to law. Ordered that letters [sic] issued accordingly. pd 16/~ (Fran's note: have no idea what the 16/~ means--would appreciate knowing)
Before October Court of 1804:
An inventory of the estate of John KNOWLES dec'd was exhibited into Court by David CARLETON, Execr and ordered to be recorded. (Fran's note: the dates in this section of the Minutes are either obliterated entirely or so faint I can not read them. The mention of John KNOWLES's will/estate here cited took place somewhere between 16 April and October Court as there is no mention found in October Court Minutes.)
