I'm a new member to this list but have read all the archived messages on Whaleys. I haven't been able to connect to any of the postings. I have a good bit of info for Robert Leslie Whaley b 1871 who came to Georgia in 1889 from Duplin Co. The rest of his family stayed in Duplin. He's the son of William B Whaley and Lucy Irene Evans. Can't find anything at all on them or go back any further. Some of their children are buried at Magnolia. Mary Jane Whaley Gavin b 1878 and hus. Robert Gavin; Dave F. Whaley b. 1882 and wife Lena E.; Minnie Whaley b. 1885 and hus. Edwin Gavin; Mack Whaley b 1891 and wife Jeanette. I have the original newspaper obit for another son, William B Whaley, Jr. who died at age 32 from 'dropsy'. He is survived by his mother Lucy Whaley and is the nephew of Esquire W. Mc D. Evans.(that's exactly as printed in the clipping. Exactly what is an Esquire?). No date, however. It must be very early 1900 because of the term dropsy. He was interred in Mag!
nolia, but I haven't found that grave. Any of this ring a bell for you Whaley researchers?? Any descendants out there?? Help!
