I am trying to find out if Jesse Batts was related to a John Batts. My great
grandmother had a brother named Isaac. He was a Black man of short stature,
fair skinned and had blue eyes. Isaac's daughter Mary Senie said her
grandfather was a white man named John Batts and his mother was a mulatto
named Nursey. I am working with a senility problem since she is 86 years old
but we are positive he was white.
Jesse Batts had a slave named Nurcey that he willed to his son Nathan. I am
90% sure this is my great great grandmother but I am not sure of John Batts.
Mary Senie gave an interview about 10 years ago and the tapes are in
storage. I haven't been able to get them from the person who did the
interview and probably won't for about three-four months. I hope they shed
some light. Until then I thought I would throw the question out to the list.
Isaac was born about 1850 and died 1930. Thanks in advance.
